Statement from the Chairman
The government has now published the details of the new restrictions that come into force on Thursday this week.
The restrictions require the closure of ALL INDOOR AND OUTDOOR LEISURE FACILITIES such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks.
The new measures will apply nationally for four weeks up to Wednesday 2 December. At the end of the period, the government will look to return to a regional approach, based on the latest data.
There is no update to guidance from the bowling associations at this point. However, it is clear from the government wording that the club must close for this period.
THEREFORE, THE GREEN WILL CLOSE FROM THE END OF PLAY ON WEDNESDAY 4TH NOVEMBER UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER, WHEN THE RESTRICTIONS WILL BE REVIEWED.
If we return to the Tier 3 restrictions currently operating in Warrington we should be able to reopen the green for play. In the meantime the Community Shield Competition and the Winter League will be suspended until we can resume play.
We are trying to stay positive and hoping that, if everyone complies with the new rules, the transmission of the virus will reduce and we will be free to get back to our bowling.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update you with any significant changes that affect the club. Until then, take care of yourselves and stay safe.
On behalf of the Penketh Bowling Club Committee
